At VELVET, sustainability isn’t a choice, it’s part of who we are.

We design and make professional luminaires with one clear goal: achieving the highest lux/watt ratio on the market while building products that truly last. Our lights are engineered to be durable, fully repairable, and manufactured locally in Barcelona, supporting both circular design and local industry.

Sustainability is not through materials alone, we believe efficiency is just as critical. Even when crafted in aluminum, our panels already stand as some of the most sustainable lighting solutions available, thanks to their exceptional energy performance and long lifespan.

Of course, materials matter too. That’s why we produce our lights using 100% recycled aluminum (and sometimes in wood 😉

Yes, occasionally we go a bit over the top to demonstrate just how far we’re willing to go (like on this video)

Because for us, light is more than brightness.

It’s responsibility.

SUSTAINABILITY. Responsibility from start to finish

For us, sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s a responsibility.

VELVET has always followed a clear principle: local production, low impact, and long life. That’s why we avoid importing parts from distant markets like Southeast Asia, reducing shipping emissions and supporting local economies.

We believe in developing luminaires that contribute positively, not only to the creative process but also to the environment and society:

  • Energy efficiency is core to our design philosophy: best Lux/Watt ratio in the market
  • Over 95% of our components are sourced locally or from within Europe
  • We use recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible
  • Certified green energy providers power our facilities
  • We work only with partners who share our values of environmental and social responsibility

VELVET lights enable professionals to work faster while consuming less energy.  Our products provide the highest light output per watt with better color fidelity and less waste.

A VELVET light is not just made to work.

It’s made to last.

Since 2008, we’ve stayed true to our mission: to build long-lasting, repairable, and efficient lighting tools that respect the planet and the professionals who use them. We’re not trying to make disposable gear.
