Durable. Sustainable. Repairable
Imagine buying a light today and still using it 10 years from now. That used to be the standard, and at VELVET, it still is.
VELVET luminaires are built with one purpose in mind: to last.
We design and manufacture professional lighting solutions that don’t need to be replaced every few years.
And if something ever goes wrong? No problem. We have spare parts for every model we’ve ever built since we started more than 15 years ago.
VELVET lights continue to deliver flawless performance every day in some of the most demanding environments. Broadcast and film studios around the world rely on our luminaires because the world never stops, and neither can the lighting. From the beginning, our mission has been clear: design and manufacture professional lighting tools that last.
Lasting performance matters
Replacing products constantly is the enemy of sustainability. The most ecological product is the one you don’t have to throw away.
VELVET luminaires are robustly designed to perform every single day for years without degradation in quality. Downtime isn’t an option at media production industry. Lights must work. Always.
DURABILITY. Lights that outlast trends
VELVET luminaires are built for long-term performance:
- Robust recycled aluminum housings that resist shocks, weather, and wear
- Top-tier LED and electronic components tested under the harshest conditions
- Fan-less passive cooling systems to eliminate moving parts and reduce failure
- LED engines optimized for maximum lifespan and optical efficiency
- Internal software and drivers developed in-house, giving full control over reliability and updates
VELVET isn’t just efficient, it’s built to endure.
SUSTAINABILITY. Responsibility from start to finish
For us, sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s a responsibility.
VELVET has always followed a clear principle: local production, low impact, and long life. That’s why we avoid importing parts from distant markets like Southeast Asia, reducing shipping emissions and supporting local economies.
We believe in developing luminaires that contribute positively, not only to the creative process but also to the environment and society:
- Energy efficiency is core to our design philosophy: best Lux/Watt ratio in the market
- Over 95% of our components are sourced locally or from within Europe
- We use recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible
- Certified green energy providers power our facilities
- We work only with partners who share our values of environmental and social responsibility
VELVET lights enable professionals to work faster while consuming less energy. Our products provide the highest light output per watt with better color fidelity and less waste.
REPAIRABILITY. Designed for real-world use
Every VELVET light is designed to be repaired, updated, and maintained, not thrown away:
- All spare parts are available, even for models we released 10+ years ago
- Design makes it simple to replace every part or upgrade components
- Color and photometric performance can be recalibrated over time
- Electronics and light engines can be updated to the latest standards
- And when the time finally comes, materials are recyclable
Made in Europe: a shared effort, a shared benefit
Being sustainable also means being socially responsible.
VELVET is proud to design, manufacture and test its products fully in Europe. VELVET is committed to a real European circular value network, where every actor in the supply chain benefits from ethical, transparent, and sustainable practices.
- Taxes are paid in Europe, from raw materials to final sales
- Jobs are created and maintained locally, supporting families and communities
- Technical knowledge and manufacturing skills are kept alive and evolving workshops within the region
This isn’t just good ethics, it’s good business. Because building locally means better control, better quality, and a stronger bond with the professionals who use our tools every day.
A VELVET light is not just made to work.
It’s made to last.
Since 2008, we’ve stayed true to our mission: to build long-lasting, repairable, and efficient lighting tools that respect the planet and the professionals who use them. We’re not trying to make disposable gear.
